Meet Michael Movitz,
Founder of The Movitz Group

Michael Movitz has more than 29 years natural & organic products industry experience across retail, manufacturer, broker and market research organizations, including 16 years with SPINS, the leading provider of retail consumer insights, analytics and consulting for the Natural, Organic and Specialty Products Industry.

Over his long career, and particularly during his decade and a half with SPINS, Michael was at his best when observing, analyzing, internalizing, and interpreting broad market trends, the players influencing those trends, how those influencers interacted, and what it meant for them as well as consumers. Michael often personally analyzed retail scanner data, consumer panel data and other market research to build presentations and interpret implications.

In the process, Michael developed a foundation of thought leadership through the lens of the natural products industry, and broad and deep expertise in the consumer package goods & retail industries across categories, outlets, and consumers.  Michael presented natural product industry macro trend reviews on behalf of SPINS at trade shows, conferences, webinars, national retail chain executive management meetings, and client board meetings, including being the featured speaker at a Bloomberg Intelligence webinar in April of 2015.  Michael has also sat on numerous expert industry panels at trade shows and conferences discussing and debating topics related to natural, organic, non-GMO, specialty gourmet, functional, alternative sweeteners, and others, including an investor conference panel with Whole Foods co-CEO & Wild Oats former CEO in October 2011.

Additionally Michael was also the lead research and analysis contributor to SPINS’ annual Natural Products Industry retail landscape summary as well as led the research, analysis, insights and editorial for SPINS’ industry forecasting projects.

The scope of Michael's Consumer Package Goods Industry Expertise includes product innovation & positioning nuances; retail landscape dynamics; and policy, regulation, and certifications.

Michael earned his degree from the University of Southern California School of Business Entrepreneur Program.
